THE POLLING FOR THE MINING BOARD.

The polling for'the election of seven members to form the Mining Bbai'd commenced yesterday morning at nine.," at the Court-houses, Shortland and Grahamstown. At the former, the election was conducted by Mi-. Warden Davey and Mr. Burgess, and at the latter by Mr. Warden Eeddell and Mr. J. C. Young. On entering the room, the voter handed his miner's right to the Warden, who, having examined it, passed it to the clerk to be marked and recorded. The Warden then handed to the voter a numbered paper, containing the name 3of all the candidates. The voter then went alone into a part of the Court room screened off, marked out the names which he did not intend to vote for, and then, folding up his paper, dropped it into the ballot-box. The process was exceedingly simple. Tne following are the returns completed for Grahamstov.a and Shortland :—

Only five persons recorded their votes in Auckland on the election of a Mining Board. The Deputy Returning Officer could not declare the state of the poll at the close, as there were not two electors present, nor were they to be procured on seeking for them.
