In the exports, shipments show a decline of £147,428 as compared with last month. The details are as follows :—Victoria, £170,532, decrease £76,091; Sydney, £207,510, decrease £64,590 ; South Australia, £100,322, decrease £26,938 ; Queensland, decrease, £10,443; Tasmania, decrease, £197 ; New Zealand, increase, £28,771.

In the money market there is a brisk demand for Australian stock. The balance of the Victoi'ian loan was disposed of at about 101; large sales were afterwards made on the Stock Exchange at a premium For the new Russian loan of £12,000,000, the applications were large.

The Government paid £6,000,000 on behalf of telegraph property. The manufacture of the British Australian cable has commenced.

Several submarine telegraphic schemes, some Australian, have been successfully launched.

A project is again mooted for steam communication with Australia, via Milford Haven, Portland, and San Francisco, in forty days.

Dividends were declared in the North British and Australasian Company, of 6j per cent.; Port Phillip Colonial Gold Company, 12J per cent.; Peel River Land Company, 2 per cent.; South Australian Company, 8 per cent. ; New Zealand Trust Loan Company, 10 per cent. ; New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, 10 pea cent.

The Atlantic Telegraph Companies have arranged a joint pirce.
