February 9th. ■ ■ A Supply Bill to the extent of half a million lias been passed. The estimates contain items of £1200 for marking the boundary between Victoria and New South Wales, £4,000 for clearing the Murray, and £5,000 for new industries. The' Dane is the great favorite for the Cup. Mauritius advices speak favorably of the crops. The budget debate is on. and will probably last all night. In the case of Messrs- Bowman & Co., tea merchants whose liabilities are £9000, the creditors decided upon sending the estate into the Insolvent Court, which will necessitate the resignation of Mr. Bowman's seat foxMaryborough. The Board o£ Trade recommend that all obnoxious trades should be removed to Fishermen's Bend, Hobson's Bay. A co-operative company is being organised for the purchase of Williams's Coach Factory. Maize, 3s. 4d. to 3s. 5d.; flour, £11; wheat, 4s. 9d. to 55., but few transactions. There were some sales of country Hour at £10 15s. Arrived. —HM.S. Virago. Charon is dead. Mr. Grant has given notice of motion to the effect that Victoria shall communicate with the other colonies with a view to the construction of a railway to the Gulf of Carpentaria. The last returns show that there are 100,000 scabby sheep in Victoria. The mission vessel Dayspring has been overhauled ami. relaunched. A post mortem examination of the racehorse Charon shows that the vertebrae were shattered. Amongst the rumours of failures, malting firms are spoken of ; but it is stated arrangements have been made to prevent suspension. It is considered the worst is now over. An agent of English capitalists is now offering to lend money for Government reproductive works.
