It is proposed to institute a society in Auckland, for the purpose of turning attention to the

natural resources of the country, for experimenting upon its productions and turning them to account, and for the encouragement of exports. It is sufficient for the moment to call attention to the project; we shall presently have much more to say. It may be, however, at once observed that it is not intended to cull the members from any particular class of society ; that the possession of available knowledge, of any kind that is likely to promote the objects of the society, will be the only qualification desired. There can be no better union than that of practical, with scientific men.
