DUVAUCHELLE'S BAY.

A meeting of the Committee was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening, the 22nd inst. Present — Messrs Barwick (chairman), Piper, Pawson, Libeauj Vogan, and Wallace. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. The annual neeting of householders then took place. There waa a fair attend - >ancp. On the motion of Mr Piper, seconded by Mr Pawson, Mr Barwick was voted to the chair, and read advertisement calling the meeting, also a statement of accounts for the past year, audited by Mr E. S. Latter, as follows, viz.:—Keceipts £175 13s 10d, expenditure£ls9 16s lid,leaving balance to carry forward of £15 16s lid, after payment to bank of outstanding •cheque, £10 4s Bd. Moved by Mr Piper, seconded by Mr Wallace, that the accounts as read be received and adopted. (Carried.) The election of a new Committee for the •ensuing year was then proceeded with, and the following gentlemen nominated, viz., Messrs Pettigrew, Piper, Wallace, Cossar, Barwiek, Libenu, Vogan, and Mould. Messrs Piper and Barwiuk were appointed scrutineers. Tlie following was the result of the ballot:—Pettigrew 8, Piper 8, Barwick 8, Wallace 6, Pawson 6, Vogan.6, •Libeau 5, Cosear 5, Mould 3. The tie between Messrs Libeau and Cossar was then ■bnllotted for, and resulted in the election. of Mr Libeau. The first six were then •declared duly elected. A hearty vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting. A meeting of the new committee was held subsequently. Mr Piper proposed, and Mr Pawson seconded—" That Mr Barwick be elected Chairman for the ensuing year." (Carried unanimously.) Mr Barwick briefly thanked them for the honor they had again conferred upon him. The following correspondence was then *cad:—From the Board of Education as follows:—Sir,—l have the honor, by direction of the Eoard of Education, to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the date as per margin, and in reply, to say that as Mr McClintock has not been classified by She Education Department, and taking into consideration the unfavorable character of , ' the inspector's report, the Board has decided to terminate his engagement. I have to request you to be good enough to hand him the accompanying letter, which acquaints him with the Board's decision, and gives him therewith three months' notice.—Yours, etc., Edwabd S. Wallace, Acting Secretary." Resolved—" That this letter be published in full." From Mr A. H. Cunningham, consenting to be hdminated for renewal to a seat on the Board. From Mr 11. J. Tancred, declining to be nominated, as he had decided to retire •from the Board, and thanking the committee for the honor they had done him. Resolved—"That the Board be informed of the result, stating that the committee begged to nominate Mr H. R.Webb in place of Mr Tancred. It was proposed by Mr Piper—"That a certificated master and mistress be advertised for in time to undertake the duties at once on Mr McClintock leaving, in order that there be no stoppage of school work." Seconded by Mr Pawson and carried. Proposed by Mr Pawson— ■" That under no pretest whatever after this date should horses be allowed in the school ground, and that any found therein be at once pounded or otherwise dealt with." Seconded by Mr Wallace and ■carried. The question of repairs jto tho r-ate at the master's house was considered, and it was resolved—" That it be repaired as soon as any one could be got to do it ; •and also that blinds be got for the school ■windowsi" It was also agreed that the meetings of the committee be held as •usual, on the first Monday in each month, st 7.30 p.m. The meeting then adjourned rto Monday-evening, -sth Feb., at 7.30
