SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.

GERMAN BAY.

The annual meeting of householders was held on Monday night, 22nd inst., and, ; taking into consideration the busy season, there was a good attendance, Mr Jolly was elected Chairman of the meeting. The outgoing committee reported that during the last year both schools had proigressed favorably. The Main School maintains an average of 40 pupils; the Side School had reached an average of 25, with 43 on the roll. The Inspector's report on both schools was good. Duriner the year the committee had received £380 17s Bd, and paid teachers £321 4s 10d, incidentals £40 16s 9d, buildings £18 15s 7d; total, £380 17b Bd.' The committee commenced the year with a debt of £14 13s 3d. but by economising incidentals, &c, they leave office only £1 in debt, with a bank balance of 6d. The books, audited by Mr W. Jacobson, with vouchers, &c, were placed before the meeting for inspection. It was moved and seconded that the report be adopted. A vote of thanks were then passed to the outgoing committee. The following gentlemen were then nominated, viz., Messrs Lyon, Roberts, "Curry, Sunckell, sen, fiunckell, jun., Chappell, Jolly, Harrington, Malmanche, Philips, and Jones. Messrs Chappell and J. Sunc'kell, jun., were appointed scrutineers. The following is the result of the ballot: —Jolly 15, Chappell 14, Curry.B, Jones B,' Sunckell, sen.. 7, Sunckell, jun., 4, Lyon '3, Roberts 3, Malmanche 2, Harrington 1, Philips 0. The result of the ballot to decide the tie between Messrs Lyon and ■Roberts was, Lyon 7, Koberts 3» ■ At a meeting of the committee held subsequently, Mr W. Jolly was elected Chairman of the committee, and Mr John Sunckell, senr., appointed to sign cheques. It was resolved that the meetings of the committee be held on the first Wednesday •of each month, and that tenders be called •for cleaning the schools. Some discussion rose about the disposal of the prize money belonging to the Side School. Ultimately it was proposed by Mr B. S. Chappell that Mr Jolly spend the £2 2s presented by ■Mr Montgomery in prizep, and present the same to the children who gained prizes at ■the last examination, but who.have not yet received any. Seconded by Mr W. Curry ■and carried. The meeting then adjourned.
