LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
To the Editor.
Sib,—At the meeting of ratepayers held at Little River on the 13th inst., Mr Coop elicited from the clerk of the Little River Road Board that the cost of their office was over £200 last year, and Mr Coop said that the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board had cost as much or more, and would do so next year, and the other four Boards would cost one way or another, to keep their offices going, £300 or £400 more, making £700 dr £800 in all, which he thought was a further sufficient reason why the Council should be looked upon to carry out the work.—-Yours, etc., A LOOKER ON. Little River, Jan. 20, 1883.
