The New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association of Canterbury (Limited) report for Ihe week ending Jan. s:—The grain trade has been at a standstill during the week, and until samples of the new crop are on the market no animation can be looked for. Wheat—Millers can only he tempted at 4s to 4s 2d for prime ; second quality, 3* 9.1 to 3a lOcl ; ctiickwhe it, 2s 6d to 3s 3d. Oats-For small lots 2s 6i is reported as being accepted, but this requires confirmation ; we have heard of no sales under 3s 2d tc- 3s 3d, at which prices a 'ew parcels have been placed for local eonMimplion. Sales for forward delivery of ihe new crop are reported from Ashburton at 2s per bushel. Barley—Nothing doing. Grass seed—Rye : None of the new crops yet to hand. A few holders, sooner than cany stocks forward, are making sales at 2s 9d to 3s 6d ; m ichine-dres-erl is dull at 4s 3d to 4s 6d.—Cocksfoot —The sale of a large )i;ie of new seed is reported at 4d, lint as Huh is the only sale yef made puUic. it can hardly be accepted as the b.'sits Co' .'inure transactions.
