ELECTION OF COMMITTEES. THE Board, in pursuance of power in that behalf conferred by " The Education Act, 1877" (section 64), hereby directs that a Public Meeting of the Householders in eveiy School District throughout the Education District of North Canterbury be held on Monday, the twenty-second day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eightythree, at seven o'clock in the evening, for the Election in each District of Seven Householders (section 58) to form the Committee for such District lor the j'oar ending with the fourth Monday in January next year. Tho place of meeting shall be the Schoolhouse in each District which is provided with a Schoolhouse, and this is understood to mean the Main Schoolhouse in any District which has more than one School. The Board further directs that the First Meeting of each School Committee be held, in the place appointed for the Election, and immediately after the Election, upou the same evening. The Board requests the Chairman of each Public Meeting to make to the Board, immediately after the Election, a return of the names of the several Householders elected to form the Committee, and recommends that each Chairman of Committee report his own election as soon as possible. "VTOTICE is hereby given, that at a Jl_N Special Meeting of the Akaroa Borough Council, held on Friday, Bth December, a resolution was passed, in accordance with sections 82 and 340 of " The Municipal Corporations Act. 1876," adopting a By-law repealing clauses 41 and 42 of the Borough Bylaws. And notice is hereby further given, that it is intended to confirm such resolution at a meeting of the Council to be held on Wednesday, 17th January, 1883, at 9 p.m. WILLIAM SIMS, Town Clerk. I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that an Election will be held at the Borough Council Office on Friday, 26th January, 1883, for the purpose of electing TWO Councillors in place of Councillor Scott, resigned, and Councillor Waeckerle, absent without leave of the Council for four consecutive ordinary meetings. "VTOTICE is hereby given that, in i_N terms of section 192 of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," the Akaroa Borough Council intend to fix the permanent levels of the undermentioned streets, viz.:— Ist. Balguerie street, from Town Boundary to Daly's Jetty. 2nd. That portion of Lavaud street from Bridge near Mr Billens' northwards to Town Boundary. 3rd. That portion of Jolie street from Brittan street northwards to Town Boundary. 4th. Brittan street, from Pompallier street westwards to the Beach. Plans showing the proposed levels can be seen at the Council Office during office hours, and all objections to the said levels must be in writing-, and sent to the Council Office not later than Friday, 2nd day of February next.
