WHARF MATTERS.

To the Editor.

Sir, —As Mr Henning tries to make himself appear clever at the expense of the Wharf Committee, and quotes the charges levied on calves as ridiculous, I would point out to him that instead of paying 6d each on 19, the party owning them would prefer paying fora score, although there might only be half a dozen, and so save a good many of the sixpences which Mr 11. calculates on.—Yours, &c, A CALF OVER G MONTHS OLD.

To the Editor.

Sir, —Mr Honning's letter having been written about the full moon, will account for the tone of it. His personal remarks and sneers at the Wharf Committee are in very bad taste. Ho surely cannot see thcHG things in their proper light, for if the owners of the Pidneor do not choose io give liiin an exorbitant price for his coal, is that any reason why lie should let out at them ? What business of his ia it whether they keep their coal stored on Carry's Bay wharf or Tiinbtictoo ? It is dearly a ease of sour grapes with Mr 1.1., who should be the last to growl, as ho has had the use of a part ot ! the jetty for storing his coal and timber, and also the use of the public store on end of jetty, which he has turned into a shop. That the Council will get a more obliging wharfinger than the last is the wish of— V n ,,™ otn SNTAIiriTCYOW.
