PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
This Board held its ordinary monthly meeting on Saturday, the 4th. Present— Messrs Pettigrew (Chairman), Lyall, and Hay. MINUTES. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was then read— From the Chief Surveyor, regarding a misunderstanding in reference to the road through the property of Mr Paton, Senior. From Christchurch City Council, soliciting the Board to send delegates to a proposed meeting in the Council chamber, to consider what action ought to be taken in regard to the West Coast Railway question. From Akaroa and Wainui Board, regarding the expense of construction and maintenance of Haino's Summit road. The Clerk was instructed to write for the minute of agreement between the Boards. From Messrs Joynt and Perceval, re tho contemplated Holme's Bay road. From the Otago Daily Times Company, bringing ur.dor the notice of the Board their new publication, " Handy Book of Local Government Law," and soliciting subscription. It was decided to order a copy. From Mr Wilkins, of Akaroa, explaining that unusual press of business prevented him from executing the Board's commissions. TENDERS. The Chairman informed tho Board that tenders for filling and carting the metal on the Akaroa road had been sent in to him, and that he had accepted the lowest, and that the work was now done. Four tenders for the middle contract of the Holmes' Bay road were opened, and that of Mr T. Weir, tor £92, was accepted, contract work not to commence until the conveyance of the road is executed. The clerk was directed to write to Mr Weir to this effect. ACCOUNTS. Messrs McClatchie and Mclntosh's order on Mr Upton and Mr Upton's account were passed, and the Board adjourned till next month.
