Original Correspondence.

Wβ are at all times ready to give exprea sion to every shade of opinion, but in no case do we hold ourselves responsible for the views advocated by our correspondents.

CARRIAGE ROAD, LE BON'S, To the Editor.

Sir, —Will you kindly allow me a small space in your valuable coluins to say a word in regard to a rend that is commonly called the carriage drive. S iina time ago the Okain's District Road Board let the contract to h-ivo this roid put in repair, as it was almost in an impassable cundition. Since then I have been given to understand that the contractor has sold the contract, or in other words sub-let it. It so happened that I waa travelling on this road on Sunday last, and I was greatly astonished to see how this work was being carried out, as I believe that all slips were to be thoroughly cleared away, and the culverts made good, and the water table made so that the storm water could have its free course to run into these culverts ; but instead o? seeing this, it was quite the reverse, for on that portion of the road that is already done, the water was running all over the road from top to bottom. So Mr Editor. I should like to call our Road Board's attention to the fact that if this is the way that public money is to be spent, it is high time that some other course should bo followed to look after the public's interest. In conclusion, I would ask our member, or who ever may have the passing of this work, to see that this work is carried out in more of a workmanship like manner.—Yours, etc., PAIR PLAY. Le Bon's Bay, Nov. 6, 1882.
