AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.

Messrs H. Matson and Co. report on the Live Stock Market, &c..for the week ending Thursday, October 26th, 1882, as follows -—For yesterday's Addington market a much larger entry of sheep were sent to hand than of late, the yards being well fillet! with fat and stores. In butchers lines the quality was. perhaps, scarcely as good as for somo time past, but the Longbeach orossbreds and the major portion of the merinos penned were good enough to suit the requirements of the most fastidious. At the opening ol; the day's trans.ctions, business was somewhat quiet, and comparatively little spirit was shown in the biddings, but as tho auction progressed the demand improved, and for all lines of •crossbred mutton buyers were readily found at prices equal to late quotations. For merinos there was certainly less competition (arising no doubt, from the warmer weather, when this class of mutton is less in favor), values ruling 6d to ls per head below the average of past month's sales. In crossbreds we topped the m rket with the Longt-each wethers by several shillings per head, the line being cleared at from 19s to 22s per head. Merino wethers (account of various owners), 12s to 14s In shorn mutton there were several lines on offer, 10s 6d to 13s being the current rntes for crossbred, 6s to 7s for merinos. We quote prime mutton in the wool at 2fd per lb, strong shorn lfd to 2d. Of store sheep the largest entry of the past two or throe months came to hand, chieflj composed of crossbred and merino couples. For some unaccountable reason Acre was less enquiry for this class of fsWn than a fortnight since, and although mo-t of the lines changed hands, prices wf*;e decidedly more in favor of buyers. Good crossbred ewes, mixed ages, with a fair per centag •> of lambs at foot, brought 14s to 15s ; merinos, 8< to 10s 61. In fat lambs there was an avenge supply, and ns the quality was generally good, prices ruled from 9-s to 12-i for superior lines, medium 6s to 7< «I. In <>eef we note but little alteration in trade. Yesterday's supply was considerably below the average, and the varicm lots brought under the hammer were easily disponed of ; good steers at, from £9 to £11, medium weights and heifers £6 10s to £7 10s. We quote 25s to 27s per 1001b as tho avenge rice of beef, with a variation of a couple of shillings per 1001' is ia the ease of inferior or extra prime quality. In store cattle, the market is still very qui-A, ami although yesterday's entry iaAis-letl several iinu-3 of gool young stock, there was scarcely a buyer in the yir.U an 1 tha bulk of the oattle tur-ied out uiir-.-ld. Tho totals yarded for thej day comprised 6931 sheep, 397 head of cattle, and 137 pigs'.
