The Chairman said that the work of last year's committee was now completed, and they begged to resign their offices. His Worship the Mayor then took tho chair, and on doing so congratulated the meeting on the success of the last Regatta. His first duty was to call upon them to say whether or not they would have a Regatta this season. He thought th it after their former success there could he little doubt in the question, but still it was proper to have a form il resolution. Mr Back moved—"That a Regatta be held on December I6lh, nest." In moving thu resolution he might say that tho idea had occurred to him that perhaps they should get more competition from outside, if they held their Regatta on the 26th, instead of the 16th of December, as there would ihen be a shorter interval between this and the Lyttleton Regatta, so that vessels could go from here to the other with less delay between. He did not urge the matter, but simply mentioned it so that it might be thought about before next year. Mr J, D. Garwood seconded the resolution, which was then carried unvnimously.

Mr Bruce said he should have much pleasure in proposing a vote of thanks to the judges, Messrs J. Alymer, J. Welch, W. Misetield, W. Wi:kin, and W. H. Hargroaves; to the starters, Messrs Packard, and F. Pavitt ; to the timekeeper Mr La Coste. These gentlemen had all worked well for the success of the Regatta, and some had come long distances to assist. This wiß seconded by Mr Burke and carried unanimously.
