Original Correspondence.

Wk are at all times ready to give exprea sioii to every shade of opinion, but in no case do we hold ourselves responsible for the views advocated by our

correspondents,

CATTLE TRESPASS. To the Editor. Sin,-—The assurance of those would-be much-injured petitioners to the Road Board re poundage, beats cock fighting. Now, Sir, all those who si»ned their nntms, and several others around the Head of the Bay, keep from two to four head of stock, and run them either upon the roads or upon the settlers. I can speak feelingly, myself respecting the destruction offences and gates ; and some of these people nro not satisfied with my grass, kno.vn as the long pnddock, but have a happy knack of getting the service of my bull upon the cheap. I have no doubt that th» last service obtained is one of the causes of complaint, as in doing this nefarious act the animal must run the gauntlet as it comes dangerously near the pound ; at any rate it cast me a gate, and this is the second this season. I consider I have the greatest cause of complaint through the action of these owners, being liable to a penalty of £5 for having an entire animal at large. As these men have not enough grass to feed a gout, I advise them to respect my bull, and be satisfied with my long padpock, or I shall impound, and it will be as little use petitioning the Road Board against my action as the pound-keeper. The Road Board being conservators of public interest they must protect the many against the encroachments of a few. — Yours, etc., 11. PIP KB.
