THE PASTORAL SCHEDULE.
Wk are glad to see that the Farmers' Club intend to offer good prizes at the forthcoming Akaroa Exhibition, ami we are glad to sec that suggestions aiv asked for from the outside public as to what prizes should he given for. Tho Farmers' Club are indeed showing themselves a capable body, and increasing their spheiv of u-efulness by trying to encourage local industries of all descriptions, nnd we sincerely hope their efforts will be appreciated. We should like to see a really good collection of the products of the Peninsula gathered together on New Years Day, and we think that some steps might also be taken to get vendors of implements suitable fo: hill work to show them. Latterly the attention of many of our farmers has turned towards agriculture, and the question of growing turnips and other crops warmly discussed. A show of implements, then, of the peculiar kind suitable for hillside work, would attract much attention, and we hope the Committee will not only see their way to offer good prizes, but also to communicate with the larger implement makers, asking them to compete.
