AUSTRALIAN SHIPPING. Melbourne, August 14. Arrived—Last evening, Orient steamship John Elder, from Plymouth (July). The necessary repairs to the steamship Te Anau having been completed, she will leave Melbourne to-morrow for the Bluff. BANK ROBBERY. Information is to hand that a robbery has been committed at a branch of the Colonial Bank of Australasia at Reedy Creek, but no particulars are yet to hand. SYDNEY NEWS. Sydney, August 14. Arrived—ll.M.S. Nelson. A Sydney "Lloyds" (Underwriter's Association) has been formed here. The local businesses of Goldboroiigh and Co., Iloffnung and Co., and Rowan and Co. are being formed into companies. FIRE AT SYDNEY. A destructive tire occurred this morning at Borthwick's oil shop 281 George Street. Tho place was completely gutted but the fire was prevented from spreading to the fidjoiniug premises. Tho insurances amount to £3600.
