The doctor informs us that he is recovering from the slight indisposition under which ho has been suffering, and we hope, when he is well, to publish some interesting records of his earlier adventures amongst our series of "Storias of the Peninsul,.."

The Maori Prophets.—The Prf-s corespondent says that Te Whi,i and Tobu are satisfied with thei-: removal to Nelson. He says Te Wuiti appea-s to have been much distressed at Hi-oki's death. He afterwards said he d'd not like the idea of 'Hiroki having been hanged. He was a bad man and deserved to be punished, but he did not think it light to kill him. Nobody ought lo kill any body else. He also seemed downcast and "pouri" when he heard of Winiaia's arrest and probable fate, but he did not dispute the justice of the proceedings. The Beach Wall.—Our attenion has been repeatedly called to tbe fact that sand for the footpaths is being taken from the 'immediate vicinity of the stone wall to the Beach road. It is argued that by this means the wall is being weakened. There are coot adiclory reports as to whether the wall in question has a foundation or nor, but at any rate we represent a section of the ratepayers when we say that tbe practice is coiis-dered injurious. -No doubt at the Council meeting to-morrow night the subject will be mentioned, so that if there is a misapprehension on the matter, it may be dispelled. Head of the Bait, Lm'ELVos.—On tbe occasion of Messrs W. Gobtno and George Edmonds taking over tne interest of the lease of Mr D. Gebbie's sneep station, (says the Press) an invitation ball was held in the woolshed, which was tastefully decorated with evergreens and flags.
