(From ouu own Cobbespondbnt.) Chbistchuboh, July 10. His Hon. Justice Williams opened tin Supreme Court to-day. The Grand Jurj brought in true bills against Willian John Siinraonds and Wis. Jacobs, shooting with intent, Jame.s Young, wounding %vitl intent, Thomas Cafliey, forgery and uttering. No true bill was returned againsi Robert Workman, charged with larceny, and Edward Thomas, charged witli personation was discharged. A verdict oi guilty was returned against W. J. Simmonde. but sentence was deferred ; T. Coffey got nine months. Judge Ward at the District Court, in re Studholme v. Queen. C'aim £200 damage to property, by sparks from passing locomotive on railway, gave judgment for defendant. BREACH OF LICENSING ACT. Thi'teen puiilicans were fined 3s each for not keeping their outside burninS# SIR JULIUS VOGEL. Mr Driver denies any intention of resigning his seat for Sir Julius Vogel. He has severed his connection with the Agricultural Company. The committee at Invercargill were to meet Sir Julius when the Rotomahana arrived last night, but that gentleman was not a passenger, POLITICAL. It is stated that in the Public Works Statement the Hon. W. Johnston will in-, dicate that of the £3,000,000 loan, £1,300,000 will be appropriated to the North Island, and £1,700,000 to the South. EGYPTIAN RUMORS. Arabi Pasha is in possession of plans which wQre concocted some time ago by the Russian Government, with a view to blocking up the Suez Canal, in case of war breaking out between Russia and England. It is his intention, in case England should interfere with Egypt, to avail himself of the Russian scheme.
