AKAROA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Fbiday, May 26. Befoue Justin Aylmer, Esq., R.M. BREACH OF LICENSING ACT. The Bench delivered judgment in Chamberlain's case, fining him 20s and costs, and ordering the offence to be endorsed on the license. ABUSIVE LANGUAGE. Alexander Wright was charged by John Glynan with using abusive language towards him on the 20th inst. Defendant acknowledged having an altercation with complainant, but stated that complainant commenced using the bad language. The evidence was most contradictory. Alexander Wright was further charged by John Glynan with assaulting him on the 20th inßt., between Messrs Tosswill's and Checkley's. It appeared that on the night in question defendant asked Glynan for his vote at a Road Board election. Glynan, who was on bad terms with defendant, made a reply that offended him, and a quarrel ensued. As in the former case, tlie evidence was most contradictory. The Bench, after hearing both cases, had A. Wright bound over to keep the peace towards Glynan, himself in £80 and two sureties of £10 each. CIVIL CASES. C. Brown v. E. W. Morey. Claim £14 14s lid. Judgment by default for amount claimed and costs. The Court then adjourned. I
