TN accordance with sections 82 and I 849, sub-si'ction 4, of " The Municipal Corporations Act, ]876," notice is hereby given, that the Akaroa Borough Council intend to consider the following By-law at a Special Meeting to be held on Wednesday, 31st May, 1882, at 7.30 p.m.:— By-law providing how cattle not in yoke or harness shall be driven through the streets. A liy-law of the Borough of Akaroa n 1 ado under the provisions of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

In pursuance of the powers contained in the abo■■ e-mentioued Act, the Council of the Borough of Akaroa ordain as follows :— No person shall drive, assist to drive, or cause to be driven through any street in the Borough of Akaroa, any cattle not in yoke or harness, except at a walking pace, and unless the same are in charge of at least two persons, one of whom shall go in front of the cattle, and the other shall fellow after them. The word " cattle " shall, for the purpose of this by-law, be deemed to include all kind of horned cattle, horses, asses, and mules, of all ages, and of either sex, and to apply to anyone of such animals, as well as to a mob or herd. Every person guilty of any offence against this by-law shall, for each such offence, be liable to a penalty not exceeding Five Pounds, which m;iy be recovered before two Justices of the Peace in a summary way. All By-laws, or parts of By- laws, heretofore in force in the said Borough, and being inconsistent with, repugnant to, or in any respect dealing with the subject matter of the provisions of this Bylaw, are hereby repealed.
