I JOHN BARWICK, Returning 9 Officer for the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board, hereby give notice that, at a Nomination held at the Road Board Office this day, for the purpose of nominating Candidates to fill an extraordinary vacancy, the following persons were duly nominated as Candidates, viz.:— ALEXANDER WRIGHT, WILLIAM CHATFIELD. And I further declare that, the number of Candidates being in excess of the vacancy to be filled, a POLL will be taken for the Election of One of the Candidates to fill the extraordinary vacancy, in the Road Board Office, Duvauchelle's Bay, on Tuesday, the 23rd May inst., between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. All in terms of " The Canterbury Road Ordinance, 1872," an I "The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876." Also, in compliance with , instructions from the South Waimakariri Board of Conservators, this Board intend, on the same date, to levy a Rate of ONE PENNY in the £ on all property in that portion of the Little River Road District within the jurisdiction of the South Waimakariri Board of Conservators.
