PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held in the Board's office on Saturday, 6th May, 1882. There were presentMessrs Pettigrew (chairman), Paton, Hay, and Pitcaithly. minutes, The minutes of last preceding meeting were read, and on the motion of Mr Hay seconded by Mr Paton were confirmed. correspondence. Correspondence was read— From Okain's Bay Road Board, intimating that the consideration of the question of boundary had been left over for a fuller meeting of that Board. From Mr J. Gebbie, requesting a list of ratepayers for the purposes of the Licensing Act. From tbe proprietor • of the Akaroa Mail with accounts, the items of which, authorised by tho Board, were passed for payment. From Mr Wilkins of Akaroa re a survey in hand—two letters. From Mr Jas. Anderson, Macintosh Bay, enclosing account for labor, charged at a rate higher than the Board allows. On the motion of Mr Hay seconded by Mr Pitcaithly, the account was passed for payment at the Board's scale of wages. From the same, offering to keep in *
repair th a road in Macintosh Bay during ten months for the sum of £10. On the motion of Mr Pitcaithly seconded by Mr Paton, it was agreed to accept this offerto begin from date—a member of the Board to be associated with Mr Menzies for inspection of work. POUNDKEEPER. The poundkeeper paid in £3 9s received for dues, and in furnishing a list of tools belonging to the Board, he applied for a new spike hammer and a jack. Permission to get the hammer was granted, and on the motion of Mr Hay the Chairman was authorised to buy a jack, brought under notice, if he approved of it. surfaceman's report. The surfaceman gave in his monthly report, which showed that he had been 31 days at work during the two last months. HAINES' ROAD. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board for a statement of accounts for the formation of Haines' ro id. BEACH BRIDGE. Attention having been called to the state of the beach bridge and the breast work in front of the hotel, the surfaceman was directed to get stones for repairing them. PLANKS. To obviate tbe inconvenience of not having planks in readiness, the Chairman was authorised to secure a supply. RATE. Mr Hay proposed that a rate of 9d in the J. for the current year be struck. This was seconded by Mr Paton and agreed to, and the Clerk was directed to give the required public notice. HOLMES' BAY ROAD. The Chairman was requested to arrange with Mr Holmes for the conveyance to the Board cf the road granted by him. THE SEAWALL. Mr Paton was authorised to give instructions to the Surveyor to continue his grading to the end of the seawall, and to draw up specifications cf the whole road graded for three different contracts, viz., Ist. From end of the seawall to the beginning of Mr Holmes' road; 2nd. From that across the spur lo the flat, and 3rd. the remainder. ACCOUNTS. After passing accounts to the amount of £46 12s 7d the Board adjourned.
