INFORMATION WANTED.

To the Editor.

Sir,—Some time ago you published in your paper a paragraph to the effect that the Little River Kailway would be opened this month. April is nearly gone and yet no news has reached us of trains running on the line. Can you give us residents in the vicinity of Little Kiver any information on the subject, as many of "us are waiting to see if there is a chance of going thit way to the Exhibition at Christchureh, as it would be far more pleasant than the long coach journey, and besides we could get back early on the day following the one we went. There is one other question I want to ask, and that is, why MrO'Callaghan and the other gentlemen who are cha ; rmen of the new Licensing Committees in tho County, do not have the poll taken to see whether we want any fresh licenses or not. I see by the papers that they are taking them in all the other places, ami I think that the feelings of the people on the subject should bo ascertained on this important matter before the next quarterly meeting of the Licensing Com-mittee-'.—Yours, etc., LAKE FORSYTH.

[We are sorry to say we cannot enlighten our correspondent on either question he asks. It is true that wo understood the railway was to open in April, and also that thy balloting to ascertain the opinion cf residents hs to thegrantingof fresh licenses has been held in many other places, including the borough of Akaioa. — Ed. Mail.]
