CORN EXCHANGE.
Report for the weekending Friday evening the 17th instant :— Wheat—Tuscan of good quality is worth from 4s4dto4s(sd ; Hmuer's white, pearl and velvet chaff, 4s 3d to 4s 4.1 per bushel f.0.b. ; second class samples, 3s 9d to 4s per bushel; chick wheat, 2s Gd to 3s 5d per bushel delivered in Christchurch. Oats—A steady inquiry has been manifest during the week, with an evident reluctance on the part of holders to part, sales have been effected for good samples at from 2-> lOd to 3s Der bushel ; feed samples about Id to 1|(! under tho foregoing quotations. Barley—Little or no business is being ■transacted in this cereal, partly from the fact that growers are disinclined to accept the offered prices, and secondly, that there is not much to offer. Prime malting will command 4s 3d to 4s 61 per bushel; second rate samples from 3s 6d to 4s per bushel; feed quality has not yet been offered. Grass Seed—The demand is still well maintained. Good dean is worth from 4s 6rf to 5s 3d per bushel, indiffierently cleaned according to sample. Cheese and Butter—The demand for both articles continues good ; the formei is worth from 4d to the latter 8d to B|d per ft.
