INTERPROVINCIAL

Christchdrch, March 9. Considerable excitement was caused in Columbo street this morning by the conduct of an elderly man, distributing bank notes to a crowd who surrounded him. It seems he recently arrived from Melbourne suffering from mental derangement, and has drawn large sums of money from the Bank. At the instigation of a passerby, a constable took the generous man in charge.

The season tickets to the Exhibition are to be two guineas each and fixed to the photograph of the holder, to prevent transfer.

A large fire occurred at Invercargill today. Watson'a Hotel and Haxton and Beattie's harrow factory wan destroyed.
