Tiiia tliey certainly did. for although pricfs wen scarcely equal to last Mud the previous week's quotations, yet a firm demand and good competition was shown tti'diiiihout the s-ile, himl nearly evHiy \\<\ti uf fat changed ha ids— either at auction or privately—at, satisfactnry prices. Crossbred wet Hers brought 10s to lie 6d ; do ewes. 9h Gd to 10s 9d ; merino wethers, 7s to 7d Gd. In stores there wore only a few lines yarded, and these, with one exception, were all sold ; two-tooth ewes at 6*; aged merino ewes, 2s to 3s Gd. Fat lambs were only in limited supply, and sold readily at from 7a to 9s per head. Of fat cattle there was again a bare supply, and the comparative small entry met with a keen competition, and ready clearance at further advanced rntes. The best steers brought £8 to £9 per head ; light weights, £6. The entry of store cattle was also a small one, and anything ike decent ines of young stock met with a better enquiry t'.mn of late. Two to three year-old sieera are worth £4 10s to 4,005; eighteen months , old, £3 3s to £4; younger ages, lower prices. For store pigs there is now a considerable demand for stubble purposes, would-be purchasers being nnable to meet with any in the market. Theie is now undoubtedly a better opening for a consignment of strong stores than there has been here for the post twelve months, as there is an enormous quantity of grain shaken out by the late wind, consumption by pigs being the only means of saving it from total loss. The totals yarded for the day comprised 6030 sheep, 435 head of. cattle, and some pigs.

Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co. report J:— On Thursday we held our usual weekly sale or' sheepskins, etc., in our New Zealand Wool Stores.
