PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of this Board was held in their office, Pigeon Bay, on Saturday, Jan. 7th, 1882. PresentMessrs Hay (Chairman), Pitcaithly, Pettigrew and Paton. MIMUTES. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. THE SEA WALL. The Chairman reported that he had wound up the sea wall contract account, handing a balance of £12 IBs to Mr Robinson for Mr Woodill'. creditors. roUND FEES. The Pountlkeeper handed in £2 19s Gd for pound dues. TENDERS. Tender (1) for the grass on the road between the pound and beach. Two tenders l:ad been sent in aud'that of Mr John Pettigrew (tbe highest) was accepted. Tender (2) Mr Pettigrew'. was also the highest for the Akaroa road from th» pound to the summit. Tender (3_). Mr W. Smith for the summit road A tender had also been given for the grass on Paton's road, but for several reasons the Board did not decide upon accepting it. On the motion of Mr Pettigrew the question of grass on by-roads was to be considered before next season. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was now read : — From the Thames Paint Manufacturing Company, a circular notice. From Mr Mcgregor, Akaroa, acknowledging receipt of the Board's letter accepting him as their assessor, From Mr Hubert Main, Duvauchelle's Bay, complnining of obstructions on tbe public road at the jetty. The owners of firewood had been spoken to regarding the matter. From the Chief Surveyor re tracing of boundary between Okain's Bay and Pigeon Bay road districts, From the Surfaceman repotting twentyone days work last month, ACCOUNTS. After passing the accounts of Mr Smith, Akaroa Mail, and the Misses Marshall the Board adjourned for the meeting of ratepayers. ANNUAL MEETING. This meeting was held in the schoolroom, and after hearing and passing the annual statement of accounts, the meeting re-elected Mr J. Pettigrew, and elected Mr J. Lyall in room of Mr Budua. ORDINARY MEETING. At the first meeting of the new Boird Mr T. 0. Hay was re-elected Chairman on the motion of Mr Pitcaithly, seconded by Mr Pettigrew. In accepting the position, Mr Hay told the Board be might be compelled to resign from business engagements before the end of the year. The other members still wished him to accept.
Mr W. Smith waited on the Board to represent the inconvenience attending to the pound would be to him now, as be had commenced grass seed cutting. With his assent it was decided to give him a shilling per hour for lost time.
The Board then adjourned
