BARRY'S BAY.

This schoo' treat took place on Boxing Day. The day's fun commenced with cricket and sports, which were well contested. The boys who most distinguished themselves were—John Hudson, Samuel Steward, James Wilson, and Alfred Devory. The best girls were—Harriet Chatfield. Eliza Wilson, and Mary Nelson. The prizes distributed were toys and lollies. The tea was started at four o'clock. Seventy children sat down, and were much pleased with the viands laid before them. They attempted to clear the tables, but failed. However, the adults (some 35 in number), who sat down after, did their best to second their efforts. They did not succeed, although they tried hard. The room was most tastefully decorated, and everything went off well. After tea the school prizes were awarded. As all had passed, according to the inspector's report, the committee thought it would be unfair to make any distinction in the classes. The Standard 11. books were valued at 4s 6d, I. at 2s 6d., Infanta' at Is 6d. Special prizes, presented by Mrs Latter, were awarded by the committee J as follows:— For boj'.-t Uteu'hiic: •■ Hvu'fivd 11.,
