LICENSING COURT.
* The quarterly sitting of the Licensing Court was held on Tuesday last at noon, before Messrs J. Aylmer (Chairman), W B Tosswill, A. C. Knight, and Welch, Commisioners. APPLICATIONS FOR TRANSFER OF LICENSE. H. Brickland appeared to apply for the confirmation of a temporary transfer of the Hill Top Hotel granted to him from the former licensee, Edward Jackson. The police pointed out that certain repairs were necessary, and it having been arranged that they should ha done as early as possible, the application was granted. James Hartley appeared to ask for a transfer of the license of the Criterion Hotel to be granted to C. A. Rich who had leased the property. Tho police said the house urgently needed repairs, the plaster was off some of the rooms, the flooring was very defective in places, and the urinal was in a very bad state. The Bench said tbey should like to see Mr Rich before tbey granted tho transfer They would adjourn tbe application till Wednesday, Dec. 14th., in order that Mr Rich might have an opportunity of applying personally.
An application from Mr West Chamberlain for a license for Armstrong's Buildings on Regatta day was adjourned, the Bench remarking tlmt tho Regatta Committee might forward their opinion to the Bench as to the licenses being granted to purchasers of sites from them.
