AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.
Mr A. I. McGregor reports that he held "hie usual monthly sale of properties, etc., in the Town Hall, here last Saturday. There was but a sparse attendance of the public, and biddings were exceedingly languid. The cottage and section in «Ji>l!ie .street. Akaroa, was withdrawn at £200, this figure not being "up'to owner's (■xpeet.ilioii. A paddock of ;3;'f acres .and l.i r#o slipH near the brewery were not uft't'ivu , fur lit auction at all, but a privnte offer was received tittc-r the mile which will he submitted to owners. It is to be fi-ared that fielWs of small properties near Akaroa are guided too much by Christchurdi piicew. SmsiH properties near to tue iity are valuable as building sites for n large class of wnge-enrning pnri'h is -is, a class that does not exist here, and consequently the demand for sites of the wort indicated is very "limited, and the land is aa a rule not worth much ■more thin pastoral land.
