ELECTION OF MAYOR.
To the Editor.
Sin, —As the 30th is now almost at hand, and we have had no suitable pentlemen come forward to represent us, I think the best thing we can all do is to stay at home and not record our votes, and let the thing lapse. I for one don't intend to vote until I can see a man who can do honor to the position of Chief Magistrate of Akaroa, and Hiich, I contend, has not come forward as yet. It is all very well for every Tom, Dick, and Harry to come forward as Mayor. Wβ want a man that can put his hand in his pockot and spend his money free'y, but if you haven't any to spend, what then ? Why, simply he will be looked upon as an object of sympathy, instead of being looked up te as Mayor of Akaroa.—Yours, etc.,
