THE REV. H. STOCKER.

To the Editor. Sir, —I must apologise for troubling yon, •} but my patience is completely worn-out "* in waiting to 8"0 if those apathetic and slumbering official shirkers of their duties, the Church officers, would arouse themselves from their comatose state, and bestir their lethargic intellects in atrendeavor to keep Mr Stocker among us. Mr Stocker as a clergyman, a gentleman, and a resident, has won the respect, I believe, of everyone irrespective of creed, and, although I am " only a woman," I am heartily in accord with the universal sentiment. But what are we to think o£ those who should assert themselves to the utmost to keep Mr Stocker here ? I mean the Church Officers. What have they dono ? Have they endeavored by appeals to the people for aid to augment his stipend? Have they? Mayor, Mr __, Mayor, cannot you "awake them sleepeth ? " Excuse my garrulity, Mr Editor, fer I am, etc., • ONLY A WOMAN.

To tlie Editor.

Sir, —Although I am not a member of the Rev Mr Stacker's church, yet I *m delighted to hear that that much respected gentleman is still to stay and labor among us. What, however, has surprised me, and many others such Hβ myself, is the don't care apathy and listless disregard evincedl by the local officials of tho Epiecop* Church, not only te the interest of their own body in keeping a good pastor, but also to the pastor's temporal welfare. I have been credibly informed that not only is Mr Stocker badly paid, but that the modicum which he should receive is often weekfl behind due date before he gets it. I think this is scandalous treatment of a good.man. I am ashamed of the want of action evinced by the drones who have taken upon themselves functions which they appear too lazy to carry out, Apologising for trespassing upon your valuable space,—l am, etc.,

A OUI OUI.
