PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was lmld in the Board's office on Saturday, Nov. 5. Present—Messrs Hay (Chairman), Pitcaithly, Pa ton, Petligrew and Budua. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read from the under Secretary for Public Works with Statutory Declaration required in taking land by local bodies. From Akaroa and Wainui Road Board inviting to a conference of delegates from Road Boards held at. Dnvauchelle's Bay. From the Press Company with account not for this Board, and ordered to be returned From the County Clerk in reply to note sent, intimating that there had recently been no alteration of boundary between Okain's Bay road district and this. The Cleric was instructed to write the Chairman of that Eoard, enquiring if ho knew whether there was a fixed line, anil if so, where information regarding this is to be obtained. From Mr Henry Bennett, of Little Alcaloa, returning notice to pay rates for Decanter's estate, and intimating that his interest in said estate had ceased. From surfaceman with monthly report. Three pounds thirteen shillings for pound fees were handed in. The Board passed the accounts of Messrs 0. Goodwin and A. Knudson for amount of £8 2s. Reference was here made to the fact that Mr WoO'HM'h sea-wall contract account had never boon closed. After explanation of sonvi matters re'ative thereto, the Chairman, on the motion of Mr Pettigrew, seconded by Mr Paton, was authorised to deduct cash for order held by hid brother, Mr IL»y, f«" n ,lie contractor, and the Board's expenses for labor on the wall within the time the contractor would have been liable, and to hand the balance to Mr Robinson for the creditors. Mr Pitcaithly reported a con versation he had had with Mr Holmes re granting liberty to make a road down the Hat through Holmes' Bay and in case of his being willing to grant the liberty what compensation he would expect from the Board. Mr Holmes said he would consider the matter. The Clerk was instructed to write Mr Holmes that the Board thought it it was too much to expect them to fence the road he gave them in exchange for the Government road, and the Clerk _ was directed to write Mr Holmes to enquire if it was his meaning in his letter that they should do so, iind also to enquire if the said rond was to be two chains wide, except at the woolalied He wae also instructed to write the County Council regarding payment of the Board's share of the £500 voted by the Council for distrib'ition among the diiferent Road Boards. After attending to the above and oilier minor matters the Board adjourned.
