Thirty-six thousand pounds worth of kauri gum was shipped from Auckland in the Araby Maid. There are now 1328 names on the Timaru electoral roll. There were only 734 last genoral election. At a meeting held in Auckland re the formation of an Auckland and South Pacific Steam Company, with a capital of £500,000, upwards of 5000 shares were subscribed in tho room.
