About 11 o'clock this morning an accident happened at the Christchurch railway station, by which a man named Michael Howard, a storeman in the goods shed lost his life. Ho was engaged in shunting, and missed his footing in jumping on to the brake of a truck, the wheels of which passed over bis body, inflicting severe •ontornal and other injuries. He was a t once taken to the hospital where every, thing possible was done for him, but without avail, as the unfortunate man expired shortly beforo 2 p.m. An inquest will be held.
