They have purchased the risrht to publish a New .Novel by Mr Marcus Clarke, author of " His Natural Life," entitled "THE MYSTERY OF MAJOR MOLINEUX." This story will he commence*.! in the j first of the Mail Supplements. i The " Mys&ery of Major Molineux " is a strange and weiivl production, evidently founded on ;i fact connected with the early his-twy of Tasmania. As r>. psycolog'icai study it approaches in subtlety to sn.mo, of the most successful ofibrts of the author of " Adam Eea.i:" while for intsnsifcj r of sustained interest and soul-thrilling excitement it is only surpassed by Edgar Allan Poe in " The Mystery of Marie. Rogot," and " The Murders in the Rue Morgue." r Ihafc the story is hosed mon a fact does not cloti*a3t from its interest, but rather lends iva air of vrcisemblancc to a story Avliich would otherwise be too appalling. It is an introspective study, a romaucc, a social drama— worthy of the suthor of " llh Natural Life," The Supplements v/ill be published weekly with the Friday'a issue of the Mail. The first publication will take place on FRIDAY, AUGUST 12. Orders from persons dosirous of becoming iiibscnber,; should he sent in at once.
