A STRANGER.
On his first visit to Akaroa writes :— Akaroa! Who that blest spirit Named it so in years gene by, Whose poetic vision blessed it With a name that ne'er can die ? Here are mountains undulating All around a spacious bay ; There are creeks beauteous, winding ;, Here ehould be eternal day. Shrubs and ferns of wondrous beauty Singing birds in every tree. Father, let us do our duty, Love Thy workß and trust in Thee. Healthy children, peerless maidens, Graceful matrons honor Thee ; All's divenely sweet in c&denco; Akaron is all to me.
