WOOL, SHEEPSKINS, FAT, HIDES, AND TALLOW REPORT.

Messrs 11. Matson and Co. report .* — On Thursday, at our Canterbury Wool •Stores, we held our usual weekly sale of the above. There was an average attendance of felbnougers, tanners, and soapboilers. We had a wry large entry of rough fat and sheepskins, but owing to the muggy weather, t'ellinongers did not appear at all am ions to operate, a proctracted and uneven sale i>eing the consequence. We would draw tbe butchers' attention to tho necessity of (at this season of the year) keeping their sheepskins dry, otherwise the polts become damaged. Our catalogue for the day consisted of 3311 sheepskins, 174 hags rough fat, 62 hides, and several cask, and packages of tallow, al) of which were sold at prices, as under, viz:— Butchers'bod cross-breds, 5s 9d to 6s 9d earii ; s-ceond quality, 4* to 5s 5J each : medium 3s to 3s 1 M each. Butchers' best mo/mo, 3s to 4-1 each ; second quality, 2s to 2s lid each; medium. Is 4d to Is lid each. Country skins, for best, fro.n 4s Gd to 6s each ; second quality, 2s to 3s 9d each ; inferior lOd to Is lOd each. Pelts, 2d to 9d each. Butchers' best dry rough fat, 2 r J : d to 2_}d per lb : second quality. 2d lo 2£d ; discolored, l£d per lb.
