GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
Althong lithe wet weather in the early part of the week slightly interfered with business in the grain market, an average trade enn be reported as having passed through hands. It ma} , be noted that while tho shipping in port has, in a great measure, overtaken tho deliveries, fanners still experience great difficulty in obtaining •railway trucks for loading. From several •sources lately we have had complaints under this head, Wheat. —A fair number of saleshnve been made during tho week on tho basis of. prices ruling lately. Hunter's while, of good quality, Hs Gd* to 3* Gi-d, and other descriptions up to 3s 9d. For picked parcels a shade more than these rates is obtainable. During the last few days chick wheat has Uen asked for and sales have been nride a! 2s to 2s 3d. Oats. —Not many lots are being offered nt the moment, and prices remain firm. Any brought forward, either of feed or milling quality, are taken readily. Rest heavy samples of milling stand at Is 9d to Is 9£d, and feed at Is 6.1 to Is Hd, ■there is a slight enquiry for Tartarian for ■fl xl purposes. Barley.—No change can lie noticed in this grain, and sales are hard to make, ex cept at sellers values. When n fall in freight takes place, as it mot likely wil shortly, the market will probably be relieved of much fair grain that cannot be moved unless at very low ra f e.«. Potatoes. — Only a moderate activity characterises the market. Values stand at 32.-i Gd t» uus at railway stations. llye G'ass. —The mnrket has grown quiet and few sales have passed. Not much will be done until spring (-owing, as buyers for stock still continue disinclii cd to operate at present rates. Cocksfoot is nearly out of growers' hands, and the odd lots that have been sold have been at 2£d in Lyttelton. D:iiry Produce. —Cheese 3d to 3£d per 1b ; butter 7d, with little enquiry ; bacon and hams of the new cure wil be in the market very shortly.
