WOOL, SHEEPSKINS, HIDES AND TALLOW REPORT.
Messis 11. Matson and Co. report:—On Thursday at our Canterbury Wool Stores, wo held our usual weekly sale of the above. And owing no doubt, to the satisfactory wool news received ately from England by telegram, prices of a.I .-or s of sheepskins show an upward tendency. In fat and tallow, prices were also more even and satisfactory than of late. Hides also are tinner. Our catalogue for the day consisted of 2784 sheep.-kins, 157 bags rough fat, 89 hides and several casks. Prices ruled as under, viz., butchers' best cross-bred pelts. 2s 9d to 3s od each ; second quality, 2s to 2s 8d each ; medium, ls 4d to Is lid each. Lambskins, made for best, 2s 9d to 3s 2d each. Butchers' best merino, ls 9d to 2s 3d ; second qtif.o>\, ls to ls 5d each. Supeiior pelts, either cross bred or nieiino, 2d to lOd ea< h. Butchers' best rough fat, made 2gd to2£d, and one very good line. 2jf-d per lb ; second quality, 2d to 2\ 1 per lb ; inferior, lfri per lb. Il'des, 4£d per lb. Damaged hides, 2£ per lb. Calfskins, 4d per lb. Tailow, in bags and tins, 2d, to 2§d per lb ; in casks, 19s Gd to 22s Gd per cwt. W : would draw the attention of our country clients to the necessity of their bianding their fat, and duly advising us by post, as at this season of the year the consignment ~re liable to be mixed up upon the '"'ilway. Sale of Jairy Stock.—On Saturday last we held our usual sale, of dairy >toek, in the Tattcrsall's Yards. There was a full entry and large attendance, and most of the lots found buyers at from £5 10s to £7 for ordinary dairy cows; good, to £10 lOs.
