PIGEON BAY.

[fuom our own cor respondent.]

On Saturday last thre esidents of Pigeon Bay had their annual trip to Lyttelton and Chiistchurch. I hope not to have to call it the annual trip any more, but by some arrangements that we may be able to go much more frequently. Through the kindness of Capt. Cameron it was free this time. It was also well arranged and as the day favored it was very pleasant. The behaviour of the excursionists deserve praise—there was the absence of that rude boisterousness so often seen on such occasions. But this did not arise from the sinallness of the party—for many, even beyond the Bay, availed themselves of an opportunity so generously given—but from the absence of some other spirit very fond of mischief.

The handsome way in which Capt Cameron put his boat at our disposal called forth aa it deserved many expressions of goodwill, and a small (small though as I learned not from want of appreciation, but want of metal) token of response to the kindness shown by Capt. C meron.Jgot up on board on the spur of the moment was presented to him, accompanied by a hearty cheer. I daresay some might be asking, " Well ye no come back again."

It is to be hoped that all who appreciate the jolly tar's kindness will do what tliey can to make the ordinary traffic profiiuhle lo him. The residents should not i'orget i hat became to their rescue when they were at their wits end. They should not especially forget that in encouraging the Titan they are studying their own interests. The traffic has not hitherto been profitable, but the inhabitants have it in their power to make it so, and I hope they will.
