AKAROA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Friday. Mar. 11,1881. Before Justin Aylmer, Esq., RM. civil CASE. N. Smith v. Robt. Hodgson. Claim, 15s; judgment for amount claimed and costs. The judge severely reprimanded the defendant for the manner in which he had tried to evade the debt. Saturday, March 12. Before His Worship the Mayor. Thomas. Murray, alias " Shoemaker Tom," was charged with the larceny of a £10-notefrom the person of Henry Edmondson, on the evening of Friday last, at Bruce's Hotel. The prisoner afterwards wished to change the note at the Criterion Hotel, and. on being refused, planted it in the fence, without knowing its value. At the request of Sergeant Willis, the Fench remanded the prisoner for eight days, to enable the police to make enquiries as to his antecedents.
