Skutliorpe's brother telegraphs to Mr Dufaur that Mr Skuthorpe has declined to give even him any information regarding the Leichardt relics. His brother further expresses a doubt as to the bona fide of the discovery.
Later accounts confirm the previous reports of a hopeful prospect of the gold field at Mount Pool in the Grey Ranges, on the Western border, but at the same time is said to be somewhat risky. Five escapees from New Caledonia have landed on Stradbrook Island, Moreton Bay, in a nude state, and nearly starving. Their immediate arrest has been ordered by the authorities.
