The " Daily News " of to-day publishes information to the effect that the magazine at Cork has been broken into, and that a large quantity of gunpowdtr has been taken away. Bombay, Feb. 22. News has been received from Kolapore that the Natives who were arrested on a charge of plotting against tho lives of European residents have been found guilty and been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. From the Lt/tteltnn Times. Lo>ji>on, Feb. 20. News to hand from tho West Coast of Africa announces that tlie Ashrmtees have collected their army and commenced an advance on Sierra Leone, with the view of prosecuting hostilities against the colony. Mr Parnell addressed a meeting at Clare to-day, and exhorted his audience to adhere firmly to the programme of action which had been laid down by the League. In the House of Commons to-day,Mr Gladstone, replying to a question, made a statement in which he confirmed the previously-announced fact that negotiations have been opened, through the President of the Orange Free State, to bring about, if possible, a bloodless and honorable understanding with the Boers in the Transvaal. News has been received from Bloemfonteid that the Volksraad, or Parliament of the Orange Free State, has passed a resolution authorising the passage of British troops through the State from Basutoland into the Transvaal. Feb. 21. Consols remain at 99|. Adelaide and New Zealand breadstuffs are unchanged at last quotations* viz., Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 495; New Zealand, ex ship, 44s ; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 335. Australian tallow—best beef is quoted at 34s ; best mutton, at 37s Gd.
At the wool sale to clay, 7900 bales were catalogued, making a total of 45,800 offered since the opening time. To-day's auction was quiet.
The homeward Australi m and New Zealand mails via San Francisco were delivered to-day.
In the House of Commons to-day, the consideration of the Irish Coercidfri Bill in Committee of the whole was concluded, and the Bill reported to the House. The third reading of the measure is expected to be completed without delay.
