DOG REGISTRATION. Three applications were received fo appointments as dog registrars—viz., from j Mr C. J. Hubbard, Little Akaloa, Mr J. Recce, Le Bon's Bay, and Mr C. Walinsky

Wainui,

Mr Barker moved a resolution that the above applicants be appointed. Hβ thought they should consult the convenience of the public.

Mr Gebbie was of the same opinion as last month. He thought it was not fair to the registrars already appointed. Their remuneration was small enough, and it should not be diminished by fresh appointments being made.

Mr Barker thought it was the convenience of the public they had to consider— not the interests of any individual

registrar. Mr Williams concurred

After a little conversation the resolution

was carried.

The question of the appointment of a ranger to enforce tho provisions of the Act cinnped up, but the general opinion was that it was premature, and on the motion of Mr Gebbie the question was postponed till next meeting.

The Council then adjourned till the 31st. of March.
