BALGUEBIE STBEET.
Cr Cullen said he had a petition to present from residents in Balguerie street. Councillors would remember that the Council had Borne time ago resolved that the work required in this street should be done. On May 28,1879, it was resolved unanimously that the street should be formed in the following sprißg. As a member of the Works Committee, he had always been against spending a pound or two here and there. He thought it better to save their money, and do some thoroughly useful work. In the case of this street a tender had absolutely been accepted for this work, but its carrying out had fallen through for want of funds. They were in possession of a plan and specification, and he did not think the work would cost near as much as had bean anticipated.
The petition was signed by nearly forty burgesses, and was accompanied by a certificate from Dr Guthrie, stating that the drain on the south side of the street was,in its present state, highly prejudicial to health.
WILLIAM STREET. ■A petition from residents in this etreot had also been sent in. His Worship called attention to the fact that'it was informal, as every petition ought to bt) presented by a councillor. Cγ Cullen agreed to present the petition, and, in doing so, supported its prayer, which was that something should be done to William and Percy streets. He thought they were in a very bad state, and would cost very little to put right. In consequence of the small attendance, it was decided to postpone the consideration of both petitions till the Council's next meeting. MAIN ROAD. Cr Cullen, on behalf of tho sab-com-mittee appointed to report on the repairs necessary on this road, stated that they had not yet received a report from Mr Barwick, who had promised to furnish them with one. Under these circumstances tho Council agreed to extend the time for the commit tee's report till next meeting. FINANCE. The receipts Rinee last meeting were reported to be—Fees and fines £8, dog tax £2. The credit balance at the bank was reported to be £105 13s Id. The following accounts were passed for payment:—Dog collars £2 ss, coats of Clerk's bond £3 3s. The Council then adjourned.
