LITTLE RIVER ROAD BOARD.
Tlie first ordinary meeting of this Board for the year 1831 was held on the 14th met. Present all the members. Messrs Forbes and Parkinson wore unanimously appointed chairman find treasurer respectively for tho ensuing year } and afterwards tho usual routine of business was gone into. In the first place, it was resolved that (he future meetings of the Board be held on the first Monday in each month at elevon o'clock, and that all cheques be signed punctually at one o'clock. Resolved also, that no contractor hencefonvnrl be allowed to suspend work on his cor.tract without tho permission of the Board ; that some repairs be done on the Christchnrch main ioad, and that the Clerk employ men for that purpose, Mr Foibesto point out the work to be done; that the matter of metalling the road be postponed till harvest operations me over. The matter of Police Keserve, Litttle River, boiiig under discussion by the Board, it was resolved that it be postponed to their next meeting. Robert Brown Marshall was appointed raiger for three months, on the name terms as he is employe Iby other Boards it! a similar capacity. The Board approved of the decision of Messrs Parkinson and Forbes with regard to tho abandonment of concrete in the erection of a bridge, over the river Ilaiawclj at Green park. Resolved that a copy of the plan and specifications as submitted this day by the clerk for tho erection of a wooden bridge in he above place be forwarded to the Springs lload Board for their approval as the cost is to be equally borne by both Boards. A letter having been received from the census enumerator, requesting a return of the number of habitations and boundaries of the district, the clerk was directed to inform that gentleman he would be at all times ready to aPJord any information within his reach, Mr Wilson having given over nil charge of clerk's duty, a vo'.o of thanks was. unanimously accorded him for his faithful service to the Board. A deputation from the Ilalswell Koad Board waited on this Board re boundary line as suggested by Selwyn County Council, to the Akaroa County Council when it was resolved that this Board approve of the boundary as suggested, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Aknroa County Council.
