LITTLE RIVER.
A meeting of the above Committee was held in the schoolroom on Saturday, the Bih iust. Present : —Messrs Coop (Chair. , man), Greenland, Olphert, Smith. Walters, j 1?< ynolds and Jacobsen. , The minutes of the previous meeting , were road and continued. t . The Chairman reported having leeeived . I the sum of £1 lo's ironi the it.M. for the [ use of the si hoolroom and having paid the same to Mrs Munro.—Approved. A circular letter from the Board of Education as to nominating members for the Board was read ; also a circular letter from the Templeton and other district school committees, recommending Mr Pcrr.inan for nomination as a member of the Education Board. It was proposed by Mr Walters.seconded by Mr Jacobsen. and carried unanimously —That Mr Perriman be nominated by the Committee as a member of the Education Board for North Canterbury. The following gentlemen were also proposed and seconded—Uev C. Fraser,Messrs E. J. C. Stevens and I. TngliV. The Chairman gave his casting vote in favor of the Rev C. Fraser. It was proposed by Mr Greenland, and seconded by Mr Oiphert—That Mr Inglis be nominated as a member of the Education Board, lo fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the death of Mr A. Duncan.— Cairied unanimously. The following correspondence was read, viz.:— From the Education Board, asking for return of apparatus, etc. From tie same, asking for a return of the number of Maori and half-caste scholars attending school. From same, stating that the sum of £23 9s hnd been paid into the bank to the credit of the Committee for salaries. From sains as to auditing accounts, and asking for return of incidental expenses. Resolved—That Mr Allan be requested to audit the accounts. A letter wr.s read from Mr Lee, asking for eight days' leave of absence,.to enabl him to attend the examination to be held in Christchurch on the 24th of January.— Granted. Mrs Munro's account for cleaning the school (£3 ss) was passed for payment. The statement of accounts anent the school treat wa? read, showing a credit balance of £1 lls. ! of her declining , to do this, the Chairm rt be empowered to call for tenders for the work. Leave of absence on Monday noxt was granted to Mr Weslropp. to enable him to net as Deputy Returning Officer at the election of members of the Little River Road Board. The meeting then adjonrne.d till the 22nd inst. at the usual hour.
