OKAIN'S BAY.

(From our own Correspondent.)

Last Tuesday the school treat was held, and seldom has a livelier scene been witnessed than the beautiful sandy beach presented that day. At an early hour carts were seen wending their way to the beach with their animated freights of juveniles. Great credit is due to the persons who so ably assisted the master and mistress in their endeavors to amuse the children, wbrj after partaking of a bearly tea on the beach, returned to the school, where the prizes (furnished through the liberality of Mr Montgomery) were distributed, the Inspector's last report being taken for the distribution. Cheers for Mr Montgomery, the School Committee, and the master and mistress, and the singing of the National Anthem, tenrr'nated the proceedings.

During the presentation of the school prizes, Mr Thacker, on behalf of the residents, presented Mr Ilutt with a watch and guard, as a token of the respect in which be is held. Mr Ilutt bas, for four years, given his services both in church and Sunday-school, and has well-earned this mark of our esteem.

Our church presented a pleasing sight during the Christmas services. The care and taste shown by the young people of the district in arranging the floral decorations showed that the work was a real labor of love. The services were conducted by Mr Ilutt, lay-reader.
